Original Stars Set to Return for Second Installment
Disney is Developing a Sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada"
Breaking News: Disney has officially announced the development of a sequel to the hit 2006 comedy-drama "The Devil Wears Prada." Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who penned the original film's script, will return to write the sequel.
The news follows reports that original stars Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep are expected to reprise their roles as Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly, respectively. The plot details have been kept under wraps, but it is speculated that the sequel will explore Andy's life as a successful editor in Paris.
The original film, based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, follows Andy, a recent college graduate who lands a job as an assistant to Miranda, the ruthless editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine. The sequel is expected to continue the story from the book's two follow-up novels, "Revenge Wears Prada" and "When Life Gives You Lululemons."
